The QAI certification mark is a symbol to regulators and the public that the product bearing the certification mark meets the standards referenced on the label. This mark is recognized by all of the authorities having jurisdiction in Canada in the various disciplines affecting the product such as gas safety and electrical safety. Please refer to the Standards Council of Canada guidelines, ‘Consumer Product Safety in Canada’ to know more about Canadian requirements for products.
Recreational Vehicles and Park Model Trailers intended for the Canadian market are designed and built to comply with CSA Z240 RV Series “Recreational Vehicles” and CSA Z241 Series “Park Model Trailers” respectively. These codes are recognized by the gas and electrical regulators in each of the Provinces and Territories of Canada. Recreational Vehicles and Recreational Park Trailers intended for the USA market are typically designed and built to comply with NFPA 1192 “Standard on Recreational Vehicles” and ANSI A119.5 “Standard for Recreational Park Trailers” respectively.
QAI evaluates general layout, plumbing, gas, electrical, architectural, and structural drawings (as applicable), component lists, and other documents necessary to determine compliance of individual product models with the relevant standards. Inspections are carried out to verify conformance of products with the submitted documents and code requirements. After initial compliance of the products is established, and after the manufacturer’s quality program has been deemed acceptable, manufacturers may be granted certification to apply the QAI label to approved models. Manufacturers are provided with a Listing, posted on the QAI website, indicating the list of models that QAI has authorized to be labeled with the QAI mark. Manufacturers typically submit new applications to QAI on a regular basis to evaluate new product models to be added to their Listing.
Certification programs at QAI cover the factory quality program as well as conformance of the product with the standard referenced on the QAI certification label. The manufacturer is responsible for maintaining a quality program to ensure that products consistently comply with applicable requirements. After completing the initial evaluation process, periodic in-factory surveillance inspections are carried out to ensure continued operation of the quality program and to ensure that products continue to comply with the relevant standards.
